Parallel vector field embedding
We propose a novel local isometry based dimensionality reduction method from the perspective of vector fields, which is called parallel vector field embedding (PFE). We first give a discussion on local isometry and global isometry to show the intrinsic connection between parallel vector fields and isometry. The problem of finding an isometry turns out to be equivalent to finding orthonormal par...
متن کاملOn Concircular and Torse-forming Vector Fields on Compact Manifolds
In this paper we modify the theorem by E. Hopf and found results and conditions, on which concircular, convergent and torse-forming vector fields exist on (pseudo-) Riemannian spaces. These results are applied for conformal, geodesic and holomorphically projective mappings of special compact spaces without boundary.
متن کاملLorentz transformation and vector field flows
The parameter changes resulting from a combination of Lorentz transformation are shown to form vector field flows. The exact, finite Thomas rotation angle is determined and interpreted intuitively. Using phase portraits, the parameters evolution can be clearly visualized. In addition to identifying the fixed points, we obtain an analytic invariant, which correlates the evolution of parameters. ...
متن کاملA Hölder continuous vector field tangent to many foliations
We construct an example of a Hölder continuous vector field on the plane which is tangent to all foliations in a continuous family of pairwise distinct C foliations. Given any 1 ≤ r < ∞, the construction can be done in such a way that each leaf of each foliation is the graph of a Cr function from R to R. We also show the existence of a continuous vector field X on R and two foliations F and G o...
متن کاملTransformation Invariance in Pattern Recognition - Tangent Distance and Tangent Propagation
In pattern recognition, statistical modeling, or regression, the amount of data is the most critical factor a ecting the performance. If the amount of data and computational resources are near in nite, many algorithms will provably converge to the optimal solution. When this is not the case, one has to introduce regularizers and a-priori knowledge to supplement the available data in order to bo...
